WinRar and links

Hello everyone,
Just a quick note to say a very BIG Thank you for all your wonderful comments. A couple of people have asked some questions. Heather, I use WINRAR for all my files because I find this suits me and most other people.

You can get the free software to download here. It opens most files including zips and is really easy to use. I hope this helps. Also, someone mentioned having a problem with links 3 and 4. I'm sorry about that. I will check it out for you as soon as possible and if its broken, I should have it fixed for tomorrow. Thanks so much for your patience and understanding.
Meanwhile, I'm working on a mini EYE CANDY kit for you all.
Take care
Hugs to you all

SAS-y Challenge LO's and some chatter...

Hello everyone,
Well, it's a beautiful morning here in good old Southport UK, even if there is most definately a crispness in the air. Autumn is well and truly under way. Last night I saw the sky full of geese flying south for the winter, a sure sign and one of my favourites I must admit, that winter is just around the corner. It always makes me think of the fun things ahead like Halloween, Bonfire night (Nov 5th), my favourite Southport event, the Musical Fireworks Championship which I'll tell you more about when it happens and of course, my favourite time of the year, Christmas.

Anywaysssssssss.........

I spied on my favourite forum, STONE ACCENTS STUDIO, that there are some really great challenges available. Now, not only am I a real newcomer to the world of Scrapping, but I'm also a real novice when it comes to designing and creating LO's and so on so I tend to shy away from hard things like 'Challenges' hehehe. I'm always so worried my efforts will be rubbish. But hey, nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?! Besides, how can one fail with all the great things available over at SAS?

So here are a couple of LO's for my first challenge for you. I'd love to know what you think. No, really, I would, even if it's not so great. I can take constructive critisisum, honest I can......:-s lol so don't forget to leave me some comments and suggestions, ok.

Now, this paticular challenge (The SAS-y ABC Challenge) is being run by Lisa, one of the great SAS-y designers and the prize for completing each challenge is the next part of her fab rope alpha. The aim of the challenge is to create a complete 'Alphabet' of LO's using each letter to set the LO. You can find out all about it here as well as the download link for the first letter. Be quick though, the time for this challenge is almost up. In the link you'll find some great links to other sites for inspiration to help you complete the challenge. Have fun and I shall look forward to seeing what you guys come up with.

Other news over at SAS is that JulieO and the SAS-y team are doing some reorginization of the forum and adding some really exciting stuff. Not only have they got the great list of SAS-y challenges but there are also super links to Tutorials, Scrapping Tools like brushes and so on. There are the Designer and Members giveaway areas as well as the Newbie help centre and now we have got a forum for photographers where you can learn everything you need to know about getting that perfect picture for your lay outs. There is sooooooooo much going on over there its reall easy to loose track of time hehe. Anyway, you guys get on over there and check it out. I am sure you'll find somthing of interest.

In store right now the designers have been working real hard for you all and have created some truly awesome kits. As if that wasn't enough, they are having a MEGA SALE on right now and everything is 50% off, how can you beat that?

Here are just a sample of whats in store:~

SAS-y Newsletter
Why not sign up for the SAS-y newsletter. It comes out every week and has all the latest news and some great exclusive special offers and goodies. Here's the link for you to check out this weeks NL. Enjoy.

...and finally, My News.....

Well, it's been a very busy couple of weeks what with Elly back to school and Jay back to work (he's a teacher) and me trying to get the house back to something like 'livable' (yeah right, like thats gonna happen any time soon lol) so I havn't had much time to do things for here. It's been a snatched hour here and there to check out the freebies, pop into SAS and complete a couple of LO's. I havn't even had time to upload my next little freebie for you guys and as for trying to come up with some ideas for my 'Eye Candy' has been hopeless. I've drawn a complete blank there so why don't you guys help me out a little and give me some ideas of the sort of mini kits you like. Colour, style, what embellies do you like, that sort of thing, and I'll see what I can come up with, ok.

I'm off to watch my favourite Southport event of the year on Friday. It's the first night of three for the Musical Fireworks Championships and I always go to all three nights. Elly and I just love it. This year my Mum, Jay and his daughter, Jess and my youngest son Mike and his wife, Trish are going too so it should be a lot of fun.

Sadly, I won't be able to take any photo's as my camera died on me a while back but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Mikey brings his. He's really into his photography and Adobe photoshop at the moment. Whatever happens, I'm sure I'll be able to snag a few pics for you to see. If the show is anything like last years then we are in for one heck of a treat. I can hardly wait.

Now, It's my ex's birthday on Saturday. I made a gorg lo for him from Elly but noticed that I hadn't worked it quite right (I used one of AmyW's awesome Jumpstart templates and left a portion incomplete) Doh! so I can't show it until I've fixed the problem. But........ I wanted to wish you the happiest of birthdays Nando. We both send you big hugs and kisses. I am sure Gabriela will spoil you rotten, lol. So, just for you hun....

A couple more LO's......

I put these together using some of the wonderful freebies I've snagged recently. I hope you like them. The photo I used was taken during the summer. It's a wild rose bush that grows in a hedge just down the road from me and I fell in love with the colour and delicacy of the flower. Isn't it beautiful....

Credits.~ Papers by Melothria. Embellies by Gina Marie Huff of weedsandwildflowersdesign. Stitches by Vendula Sediva aka Natali

Credits.~Paper 'Flure' by Ameli. Stitched ribbon (Unknown, if this is your work please contact me so that the full credit can be given. Thank you)

I will be adding the credits for all my layouts soon (just gotta write them all down first cause my naughty pc keeps crashing if I have more then one page open at a time. Bad pc, go sit in the corner...... (Credits added lol)

Thats all for now folks. See you soon with my next freebie I hope and some more lo's. Take care and big hugs to you all.

Wash Day Blues.......

and I mean that.......literally.

Yep, you guessed it, disaster wash and I'm about ready for the high jump. It's nearly 1am. I was just finishing up the laundry, DH's shirts for work (all of them) and hoping to get done before I fall asleep (it's been a v-e-r-y long weekend) when I noticed out of the corner of my beady little eye something not quite right......

OH MY GOD................ every last one of his shirts have been currupted, stained, wrecked by one miserable rogue sock I didn't spy as I loaded the machine........... WHAT AM I GONNA DO?????

Quick, shove the lot back in the machine, put the VANISH miracle soak in and pray, pray very hard........

and lets hope if that doesn't work, he see's the funny side of this 'happy little accident'

Update News.....

Oh, I LOVE this product.

Thank the Lord and praise be to the makers of this stuff. Those shirts came out looking like new. Now, if only I hadn't already posted that 'funny' little message to my beloved, he would never have known about my little mishap!

Will he ever trust me with his whites again????

Happy Monday folks.

Sometimes, I realise how lucky I am....

I was browsing as usual through all those fantastic blogs, hunting for my freebies and a good many laughs along the way when I found myself in FishinmomDesigns. Now I don't often get chance to visit her blog but I always love it when I get there and today is no exception.

I wasn't expecting to come away blubbin' my eyes out though. Why? Well she has a You Tube video there that totally wiped me out. As a mum of two boys, both serving with the British Army and both having done tours in Iraq and eleswhere, I can't tell you how many times I found myself biting my nails to the quick, refusing to watch the news for fear of what I'd see there, scared to pick up the phone or open the mail. Yeah, I know lots of you out there know just what I'm talking about right?

So, seeing that little video today brought it all back to me but it also made me realise just how lucky I am. Both my boys knew why they were there and even now, my youngest works hard to help the innocents caught up in this awful conflict. It's easy for me to say there's a good reason for all of this. It's easy because my boys made it through.

I will NEVER forget how lucky I am or ever fail to be grateful to those of you out there who wern't so lucky. I know it's because your loved one had my sons back. Thank you and God bless you all, those serving and those left behind.

And special thanks to you fishinmom for reminding me of just how lucky I am.

I can't help it....

I'm a 'Freebie' addict....

No really, I am. I mean sure, I totally love creating new designs and there is nothing like the buzz you get when something you make is liked and picked up by others but there are so many wonderfully talented people out there just bobbing along and giving away these amazing 'freebies' I just can't say Nooooooooooooooooo............. lol.

My poor old pc (which isn't actually that old) is all but beat. I can almost hear it groan when I walk into the room and I'm sure I've seen it 'tremble' as I reach to 'switch on'. I'm even begining to suspect it of foul play. Yep, there are times when it positively refuses to work properly, deliberately crashes just when I'm about to save my best work (and yeah, it's not backed up), hides files from me, won't let me access the internet and takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r to download one itty bitty little file when I'm supposed to have the fastest connection ever???

It's gotta be the pc, there is no way any of this is my fault, right?! Ok, so I grab every freebie I find cause after all, they are all totally gorg.... and maybe I do forget to organise them, condense, back them up to disc and all that stuff but my argument is this. If I grab them and then store them on some disc I'll forget I have them. I've never been great at 'organizing' things. I tried it once. I put all my alpha's here, my papers there, my bits n bobs and thingy-ma-jigs someplace else but I got confused as to what belonged to who so that didn't work.

Anyway, as you guys have probably guessed, there has been a distinct lack of goodies lately because my CS3 keeps crashing after only one paper or something just as silly. I can't find anything because I've been 'tidying' up and I'm feeling just a little bit frustrated. Now what do we girls like to do when we're down???? Yeaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh, Chocolate and Shopping right? Or, in my case, Freebie hunting............ lol. And how can you go wrong with great freebie listers like my lovely pal, Selena or Amy W or the Ikea Goddess to name but a few.

I know, I know.......... you're all thinking 'Is she completely mad? She's having probs with a very naughty pc and she's adding even more stuff.... yikes!!!!!'. What can I say. I've been a bad girl (picture me with head hung in shame) and I promise, I'll make amends (someday) but for today, I say, 'to heck with all this, I'm having fun shopping for my freebies while I stuff my face with a lovely walnut whip, mmmmmmmmmm.......

You can tell me off if you want to. Hey, I might even listen too but for now, I'm gonna go play with my freebies. Just don't expect any layouts any time soon. Did I mention my CS3 keeps crashing???

Oh that reminds me, here's one I made earlier. The picks are of my youngest son, Mikey, who recently completed a charity race from the North to the South of the country in under two days visiting every major football stadium along the way, hence the name 'Golden Goal'. The object was to get a photo at every staduim and complete the task within a set time. He and his Army pals not only completed the task but got a ton of fantastic goodies from many of the staduims to boot (oh great pun) which they plan to give as raffle prizes for their chosen charity 'WAR CHILD'. To say I'm 'burtsing' with pride is putting it mildly hehe.

Credits: LemonaidLucy 'Freebie' LindsayJaneDesigns 'Freebie' and NataliMany thanks to you lovely ladies for your time and generosity in sharing your talents

Now then. dispite the serious nature of my pc's health and regardless of it's current state of mind (it has one you know, it does, honest...) I am going to continue to collect my fab freebies, create layouts and show them off to you all and I may even try and remember the freebie links next time (Oh, you can grab all freebies used in above LO via Selenas blog

It goes without saying that I'll be posting lay outs and news for Stone Accents and I will, of course, continue to drop in some freebie goodies of my own (got another one almost ready hehe, I'm such a tease) but I am also planning to post a regular 'Eye Candy' lay out and freebie mini kit each month. According to my little poll, this seems to be a popular idea and who am I to argue? What I would love from you, my little scrapsters, are layouts of your own 'Eye Candy' which I will post here on my blog. You don't have to use my freebies to do that but of course, I'd be thrilled if you did. In return, I shall reward you with a little gift just for you. Now, I can't say fairer then that can I?

So ladies (and gents, I know there are at least two of you out there lol) Watch this space for up coming news of my latest freebie and my Eye Candy kit too.

Until then, happy scrapping and big hugs and here are a couple or three more pics of my boy Mikey on his Charity quest.

Anyone would think you guys had just been round the country in 48 hours..... lol

'If you ask me one more time 'Are we there yet', I'll make you sit in the child seat'.

Elly just loves to have her face painted but usually she goes for things like animals, tigers are her favourites, or super heroes like Spider Man but this day she decided to go a little girly. Not too girly though, this is a pirate scene and that's about as 'girly' as this little lady was prepared to go, lol.

Elly is short for Elise, a name Elly's dad and I gave her after a song (Letter to Elise) by our favourite band. However, Daddy also loves the Lotus Elise and is determined his little baby shall have one of her own when she's old enough (if he's won the Lottery by then, that is) I just could resist sneaking a couple of photo's of her next to this beautiful car but never imagined those lovely Lotus people would spoil us as they did. Elly got to sit in the car, try out all the buttons and thingy-ma-bobs and even got a miniture replicer in bright yellow all of her own and they have even said they may publish her pic in their magazine and all because she's called 'Elise'. How fantastic was that? Let me tell you, she was buzzing for days and days after that and now she can truely say she owns a LOTUS ELISE, hehehe.

I almost forgot, Selena, bless her, awarded me a Rockin Girl Blogger. which I am totally thrilled with. I will be chosing five wonderful people in my next post to recieve this fantastic award from me so watch this space. Oh, and if you get a chance, pop on over to Selenas blog and leave her some much needed love. She recently lost her dear Dad and I know she'd really appreciate your kind thoughts and prayers right now.

Thanks to all
Bye for now and hugs to you all xx
